Ms. Yang Shop owner People get hungry after biking around the peninsula, so our shop is like a pit stop for them. There’s a staircase over there, but if they don’t feel like walking down, they can just shout their order. The owner of this eatery uses a rope system to deliver freshly made food up onto the embankment, like a manual dumbwaiter. Since the stairs are a distance away, customers would have to take a long detour if they wanted to come down for a snack. So the owner came up with this ingeniously simple solution. But that’s not all... The scallion pancake is pan-fried until golden brown and crispy, served with a variety of traditional snacks like tea eggs and pig’s blood cake—all handmade. The owner says she’s been in business for 17 years, starting with a stall at the tip of the peninsula. Ms. Yang Shop owner I’m 67 years old now. I’ve been doing this for 17 years. My husband and I are both getting old. This is how we pass our time. - They used to be at the tip of the peninsula, but you can’t sell there anymore, so they moved back to their home. I’ve bought from them when passing by before. - On the weekends, Saturday and Sundays. It’s that rope there. If you pull on it, you’ll see.
