Wild Fire around Black Kite Nest Tree

The Wild Fire in the Night, 3/16 The Live Cam was scheduled to launch on 3/16 originally, but at around 6 P.M. that day, dense smoke and flick of flare started to appear on screen. It was a fire to burn down weeds for tomb sweeping, and accidentally burned up the hill of the nest. The mother kite stay guarded around the two young chicks, nervously glancing around and only leaving until the smoke the was too dense. The two nestlings seemed to have no idea what was happening, and then the fire started around the Nest Cam. We immediately called the authorities and coherent units. Fire trucks were already extinguishing the fire at the cemetery, but flames were still burning and flicking around the nest tree. After asking the firefighters to put out the fire around the nest first, they acted quickly and carefully to avoid wetting the nest. Fortunately, this family has fate on their side, the nest and two chicks were untouched by the fire below. Only the cover of the Cam was blackened by the smoke. The bush and weed around the nest were all burned downed cleanly when the research team arrived the day after. Half the leaves of the nest tree were smoked dry by the fire, but luckily the parents didn’t desert the nest, and the family lived through this disaster safely. The research team replaced the wire that burnt away and restarted the Live Cam on 18th of March.
